Hello Texas : Do You Know Sign Language?

The CCG that will never die.

So I was hanging around on MTGO recently and found out that Wizards decided to release a set of cards composed solely of stuff from before Mirage all the way back to Alpha.

No, sorry, there are no P9s here, but all of the cards will have their original black border, which in my opinion is what really matters.

There is a lot of crap, but there are some gems as well. The pictured for example, as well as Forcefield, Hymn to Tourach, Juzam Djinn, Berserk, Moat, even Arcane "mofo" Denial.

I haven't played in a long time, but J got me to try a few multi-player games online, and I quite enjoyed them, even though I made some horrific mistakes. I'm rolling on a pretty small screen, so that doesn't help, considering that MTGO is generally pretty cluttered on-screen. For the sake of not making the game proceed at a snail's pace, lots of shortcuts are available to automate play, priority passing, stack control, etc, but without some practice, I think most will start their MTGO experience making many "Doh!!" mistakes. There have been announcements that they plan to overhaul and upgrade the interface in the near future, and that would be nice, but honestly, I think people will play upgrade or no. The fact that you can get a MTG game ANYTIME is really the biggest draw for MTGO. If you have the cash, you can get into a booster draft 24/7, and once you have some cards, playing casual games like multi-player 2 vs 2 is cheap and enjoyable.

Lastly, I recently finished Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and I enjoyed it. Although not really a game, and more like a series of 2-minute mysteries, I was thoroughly impressed with the writing. The script kept a great cheeseball sense of humor and yet was able to draw out some really dramatic and engaging plot twists and turns. I doubt it's for everyone, but if you liked Encyclopedia Brown, or other similar brain-teaser type stuff, it should be right up your alley.
