Leaving English Teaching Job A

This month marks my last classes with my kids. The farewells have begun and I can tell that it will be a mixed bittersweet ordeal. Some of my kids have connected with me and I almost want to give them my address and tell them to write whenever. But of my little tykes are just good for a farewell hug which can be quite sufficiently sentimental.

I spent one of work days in my classroom writing out birthday cards to the kids. Most of the Japanese teachers are too ditsy to care to write more than a bit of English on these cards, but I like doodling anyway so the task has befallen me pretty regularly. I feel like I've really gotten used to being around kids now. They are probably the most engaging beings I have ever crossed paths with. They are never doing nothing. If they are not behaving, it just means they are not interested in what you're interested in and a compromised must be reached. If they are well-behaved, they are waiting for you to show them something interesting. If they are not doing either, they will probably fall asleep. I have come to have a lot more respect for the word babysitting now because teaching kids and babysitting them are not really that different. I think that some people may argue the point, but I would probably counter-argue that this person actually wishes to train kids, not teach them.

I heard about the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated movie a little while back and really wanted to see it. Unfortunately, I'm in Japan. So if any of you caught it, feel free to share some comments, let me know if it was a complete bomb or not.
